Presentation: "Back to the Future” New Mums
for 2008"
A
one hour slide show and descriptive program with Q&A, viewing the new
King’s Exhibition varieties and Yoder Bros. Garden Chrysanthemum
cultivars being introduced for the 2008 growing season. In addition,
the highlights of the October ’07 National Show and Exhibition at
Descanso Gardens in California will be shown.

one hour slide program by award winning Master Chrysanthemum Judge
and Horticulturist, Dr. Bob Howell featuring the photos taken at
Chrysanthemum festivals and gardens
during his recent China travels.

Presentation: Tips and Techniques to Grow Blue Ribbon Quality Big Beautiful Mums in Hanging Baskets
A one hour slide program with Q. & A. by award winning grower and
Master Mum Judge, Carmen Keister, on growing blue ribbon quality mums
in hanging baskets.

Presentation: A Primer on Garden Mums
A
one hour hands-on descriptive program with Q & A by accredited
Chrysanthemum judge and National award winning grower, Normandie
Atkins, on “All You Want To Know About Garden Mums.” She will
discuss soil preparation, supplies needed and initial /seasonal care.

Presentation: Potting Party,
Plant Exchange + Free Chrysanthemums…
The
Old Dominion Chrysanthemum Society will present a one-hour hands-on
descriptive program with Q & A by award winning judge and grower,
Bonnie Mirmak, on “How to Prepare Soil For Potting.”
Attendees will take home their free
potted Mum. In addition, attendees are asked to bring one of their own
potted and labeled seedling or divided perennial to exchange with
another fellow gardener.

Presentation: Normandie Atkins will host a Teach-In in Falls Church.

We have not had one in a couple of years, so some of you have
not attended one before.
We will talk about how we take care of our plants at this time of the
year. One of the things
will be cutting the mums back after they have put on so much
vegetative growth. I hope
you well take this opportunity to bring a plant along for us to
discuss. I do not have
many lawn chairs so I may ask you to bring one to help out.
If it is really hot we can move into my patio room, which can
take dirt on the floor. If it is not too hot, we will be on the patio with fans in
the back of the house. I
hope you will make plans to attend.
It is a chance to see what needs to be done.

Potomac Lily Society, Jack Roe, discussing selection, growing, and
exhibiting the true Lilies. Also, there will be an introduction of the
lily bulbs available for the next growing season.
